QUICK
RELEASE HUBS
There is no better way to make it easier to get in and
out of your Spec Miata than a removable steering wheel.
Either of our removable mechanisms will simply bolt
onto your steering shaft. No welding is required,
simple hand tools are all you need. Pick your release
mechanism and then the wheel of your choice. |
 |
STEERING WHEELS
The stock Miata steering wheel is approximately 14
inches in diameter. The Personal 320mm wheel is
approximately 13 inches in diameter. The Personal 320mm
and the 13" aluminum wheels are our biggest sellers.
For those with strong arms or a need for more cockpit
room the 290mm wheel works well. The AIM wheels are
designed to mount the AIM data display screen on the
steering wheel. |
 |
STUDS
& NUTS
These studs are made to
aerospace specs with a 190,000 pound tensile strength.
Long studs make tire changes much easier for endurance
racing. These studs are one inch longer than stock and
can use your OEM nuts. We recommend our 17mm lug nuts. |
 |
OPEN
ENDED LUG NUTS
Mazda changed the knurl size
on the rear studs in 1993. The only rear hub available
from Mazda is the 1.8L design. The 1.6 design has a
0.XXX hole while the 1.8 design is 0.YYY. Please check
before ordering. |

RACING SEATS
What size seat do I need? If
you consider yourself to be skinny, get a 15” seat. I
wear 38” waist jeans and use a 16” seat. Really big
boys use a 17” seat.
The Spec Miata seat is not just for the Miata racer.
This seat is constructed from 0.125" 5052 grade aluminum
and installs easily into vehicles with limited space.
Has contoured bottom with extra deep thigh, torso
supports, and is available only in 20º layback. |

COOL
SUITS
Once you try a Cool Suit you’ll never run without it
again. Have you ever noticed your mind wondering (and
lap times slowing) at the end of a race. Driver cooling
helps eliminate fatigue and lack of concentration.
I also highly recommend having a set of replacement
fittings in the trailer. The day you’ll need it will be
the hottest day of the season. |

FLUIDS & OILS
Advanced Autosports stocks the entire line of Redline
and Royal Purple Synthetic lubricants for both your race
car and street car or even tow vehicle. Motor oil,
transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant
additives and grease are all available. We also have
Mobil 1 oil and gear lube and Castrol, ATE, Motul, AP
Racing and Wilwood products. |
 |
KOYO
RACING RADIATOR
Koyo Radiators provide 20% to 30% more cooling than
standard radiators to handle high revving, high
performance engines. Koyo Radiators are perfect for
Turbo Charged, Super Charged and Nitros Oxide equipped
engines. The KOYO 53mm Radiator is the best I have
found. It fits perfectly into the factory mounts and
the fans mount properly. Minor clearance of the bottom
of the fan shroud may be needed for sway bar clearance.
I highly recommend that all coolant hoses be replaced.
Even the little pain in the butt ones! Never reuse the
spring loaded clamps. Get good quality worm gear clamps
from your local supplier. Remove the thermostat and
throw it away. The thermostat neck is so small that it
acts as a natural restrictor. Use water and your
favorite additive but never use antifreeze on a
race car. |

SPEC
MIATA TRANSMISSION
We offer the most complete trans rebuild service
around. We replace the entire internal shift linkage
with all new Mazda parts, all new synchro rings, gaskets
and seals. We offer old-world craftsmanship at
off-shore prices. You will not believe how much
difference the shift linkage makes. Even a 50,000 mile
used transmission feels worn out. Advanced Autosports
can make an old transmission shift like it just "rolled
off" the show room floor.
Transmission and differential removal and replacement
tips.
First thing is to drain the
fluid and disconnect the battery. The front of the PPF
is straight forward. The rear most bolt on differential
has a special nut on top that locks the differential in
place. After removing the long bolt, reinstall it about
6 turns. Then hit the bolt upwards with a hammer. This
will remove the special nut. Do not lose the special
nuts, as they are not available separately. Advanced
Autosports has had replacements made, just in case.
The
forward bolt on the differential is just like the rear
one, except it has a built-in shoulder. Remove the
front bolt and use the rear bolt to drive out the
special nut. The front bolt also has a lower bushing
that must be removed. A chisel or pry bar will remove
the bushing. Now the PPF can be removed. Once the
PPF is removed the trans will tilt back far enough to
give access to all the Bell housing bolts. The big
trick is to place a 2 x 4 between the steering rack and
the engine. This will keep the trans tilted back during
installation. |

TIE
DOWN TIPS
You should always use (4) 2” tie-downs to secure your
car on the trailer. Use 1” straps for the golf cart and
other gear. |

TRANSPONDERS
AMB
transponders have proven their durability and accuracy
in all kinds of racing from remote control cars and
karts to CART, IRL, and IMSA. A unique identification
number encoded in each transponder is transmitted to a
receiving loop embedded in the track at the start/finish
line. The transponders should be mounted upright, no
higher than 2 feet from the track surface. The line of
sight to the track must be unobstructed by metal or
carbon fib. |
